When compete for one or some keywords, we often show that blog with subdomain one is Blogspot or WordPress.com is very SEO or their position on the search engine is very good. It's not so hard to think, because the subdomain has been known by search engine from the main domain.
So, if we want to target the certain keywords, use the subdomain is the right choice. :)
